     Johnson Elderkin was born on 2 May 1838 at Apple River, Cumberland Co, Nova Scotia. He was the son of James Elderkin and Elizabeth Kerr. Johnson Elderkin married Christina Beckwith, daughter of Asa Beckwith and Mary Morton, in 1857. Johnson Elderkin died on 19 February 1893 at Falmouth, Hants Co, Nova Scotia, at age 54; Johnston ELDERKIN, 45 years old, a resident of Falmouth, N.S., died at his home Saturday last. Deceased was a s/o late James ELDERKIN of Amherst, N.S. and was known among St. John merchants, having carried on an extensive general store business for many years. Chief Engineer KERR of this city is a cousin of the deceased.1
