Worthen was born on 23 August 1915 at
North Head, Grand Manan, Charlotte Co, New Brunswick.
1 He was the son of
William Sydney Worthen and
Addie Loretta Stanley. Douglas Logan Worthen died on 26 October 2001 at age 86; WORTHEN, DOUGLAS LOGAN - Douglas Logan Worthen, 86, of 149 Route #776, of Grand Manan, passed away unexpectedly at home, Friday, October 26th. Born at North Head, he was the son of the late Sidney and Addie (Stanley) Worthen. Mr. Worthen was a carpenter and spent sixteen years as a Building Contractor in Mass., U.S.A. prior to returning to Grand Manan to retire. He was a member of The Church of the Ascension, serving as Warden for six terms, and as a member of Vestry for many years, a member of the Church Choir, and a Member of the Combined Anglican Church Choir, singing in the Annual Christmas Cantata, served as a Councillor on the North Head Village Council for several years. Mr. Worthen is survived by his wife at home Ernestine A. (Stone) Worthen, one son, Dr. Van William Worthen ( Donna), North Head, one daughter Joyce Ogilvie ( David), London, Ont., four grandchildren, Megan and Daniel Worthen of North Head, Peter Ogilvie ( Glenda ), London, Ont., Alison Ogilvie, Oakville, Ont. as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Earl, Bruce and Joseph and one half brother, Lloyd Miller. The family will receive friends and relatives at Ells Funeral Home, Sunday 2-4, 7-9 PM. On Monday, the funeral service will be held from the Church of the Ascension at 2 PM, with Rev. Howard Anningson officiating, with interment to follow in the North Head Community Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Church of the Ascension or to the Charity of the donor's choice.
