Joan de Dammartin was born after 1220 at Castile, Spain.¹ She was the daughter of Simon de Dammartin and Marie Ponthieu. Joan de Dammartin married King Ferdinand III of Castile, son of Alfonso IX of Leon and Berengaria of Castile, before August 1237; They had four sons and one daughter.² Joan de Dammartin died on 16 March 1279 at Abbeville, France.¹
