     Sir Hugh De Courtenay was born on 25 March 1251 at Okehampton, Devonshire, England.1 He was the son of John De Courtenay and Isabel De Vere. Sir Hugh De Courtenay married Eleanor Le Despencer, daughter of Hugh Le Despencer, circa 1291. Sir Hugh De Courtenay died on 28 February 1292 at Colcombe, Devonshire, England, at age 40.1 He was buried at Cowick Priory, Cowick, Devonshire, England.1
