Bamford McCullough appeared on the census of 1881 at Advocate Harbour, Cumberland Co, Nova Scotia; Bamford was aged 23, Mary 22, and they had a son, Fred, born in April of that year. Bamford was a ship captain, as was his father, Adam, whose family they were living with. Bamford's family was Methodist, as was his siblings and mother. His father was a Presbyterian.1
