     Joseph Nisbet was born in January 1866 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.1,2 He was the son of Oliver Nisbet and Mary Stewart. Joseph Nisbet married Emma J. Close, daughter of Alexander Close and Johanna May, on 21 August 1882 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; They were married at the residence of officiating minister, Rev. J.E. Hopper, M.D.3 Joseph Nisbet died on 5 December 1942 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick, at age 76; Obituary in Telegraph Journal-

Funeral Tuesday

Friends in Saint John and Kings Co. will learn with regret of the death of Joseph Nesbitt who passed away at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Lloyd Kierstead, 10 Visart Street, Saturday after a 7 week illness.

He was the son of the late Oliver and Mary Nesbitt. Mr. Nesbitt was born in Kings Co. but had resided in Saint John the greater part of his life. He lived at Codys for 6 years but came back to Saint John 2 years ago and had resided with his granddaughter ever since.

A saw filer by trade he was at one time employed at the mill originally owned by Charles Miller and was later an employee at T.S. Simms Co., for 25 years. Mr. Nesbitt was a member of St. Lukes Church.

Surviving are his 3 sons, Alexander, Everett, Mass; Williard, this city and Harry of Anadale, N.B., 3 daughters, Mrs. William Todd and Mrs. Duncan Morrison of the Narrows and Mrs. Frank Henderson, this city, several grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from the residence of his granddaughter, Mrs. Kierstead, on Tuesday with service at 2:30 p.m. Internment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery.4,5 He was buried on 8 December 1942 at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.4
     He appeared on the census of 1891 at Portland Lorne Ward, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Joseph Nesbitt, 29, Emma J., 25, b. Ireland, Alexander J., 5, Myrtle G., 3 and Alice M., 1. All others were born in New Brunswick.6 He appeared on the census of 1901 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Joseph Nesbitt, 37, Alex, 15, Myrtle, 13, Pearl, 9, Harry, 7, Irene, 6 and William, 4.7 He appeared on the census of 1911 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Birthdates appear to be different from some of those recorded within the county. Joseph Nisbett, 45, Alexander, 20 (Mar 1891), Harry, 16 (Jun 1894), Willard, 13 (Apr 1898), Myrtle, 19 (Nov 1891), Pearl, 17 (Sep 1893), and Irene, 14, (Jan 1897).2 He lived on 10 May 1916 at 86 Kennedy Street, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Joseph was listed as next-of-kin on his son Alex's Attestation papers for the Candain Overseas Expeditionary Force in May 1916.8
