Joseph Nisbet was born circa 1809 at Ireland.1 He was the son of James Nisbet and Mary (?). Joseph Nisbet married Elizabeth Cunningham, daughter of John Cunningham and Jane Armstrong, on 29 November 1838 at Westfield, Kings Co, New Brunswick; Westfield Anglican Church. Joseph Nisbet died on 3 August 1887 at Milkish, Kings Co, New Brunswick.2,3 He was buried at St Paul's Anglican Church, Whitehead, Kings Co, New Brunswick.4
According to census records, Joseph Nisbet arrived in New Brunswick in June of 1833.1 He appeared on the census of 1851 at Westfield, Kings Co, New Brunswick; Joseph Nesbitt, 32, Irish, farmer, entered the colony June 1833; Wife Elizabeth, 31 was a native as were the children: James, 13, John, 11, Mary J., 8, and Elizabeth, 1.1 He appeared on the census of 1871 at Westfield, Kings Co, New Brunswick; Joseph Nisbet, 54, Elizabeth, 49, James, 31, John, 29, Mary, 27, and Elizabeth, 19.5 He appeared on the census of 1881 at Westfield, Kings Co, New Brunswick; Joseph Nisbet, 64, Elizabeth, 61 and son John, 40. Joseph born Ireland, and Elizabeth and John born NB, all Methodist. Living next door was their dau-in-law, Eliza her son Frederick. For some reason, John was split off from his wife and son.6
