Princess Judith of Franks was born in 844. She was the daughter of Charles II "the Bald" King of West Franks and Ermentrude. Princess Judith of Franks married Æthelwulf King of Wessex, son of Egbert III King of Wessex and Redburga Queen of Wessex, on 1 October 856 at Verberie sur Oise, France.1 Princess Judith of Franks married Æthelbald, son of Æthelwulf King of Wessex and Osburga Queen of Wessex, in 860; Judith was only about 13 at the time of her marriage to Aethelwulf and it was nothing more than a sign of alliance to Charles II "the Bald". But when Aethelwulf died, his son Aethelbald took over his father's marriage bed and married Judith.
Since this marriage was considered to be “agains God’s prohibition and Christian dignity” they were held in disregard and they had an annulment the same year.
