Alexander Hepburn

     Alexander Hepburn was born circa 1852 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick. He was the son of Jared Hepburn and Ann Jane Seabury. A bond for the marriage of Alexander Hepburn and Martha Jane Fitzmaurice was signed in 1871 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.¹ Alexander Hepburn married Martha Jane Fitzmaurice on 6 June 1871 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Married at the home of the bride's father, William Henry Fitzmaurice by Rev. G.M.W. Carey.² Alexander Hepburn died on 31 July 1872 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; "Alexander Hepburn of city, has been missing since Wednesday night when he was seen near Reed's Point in company with two other persons. The last place he was seen was at the shop of Jacob Wescoff."^3,4 He was buried on 5 August 1872 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; The funeral of Alexander Hepburn who was drowned a few days ago took place Monday. The members of the JOhnston Loyal Orange Lodge attended the funeral leading the procession and hearse, headed by the city band.
The Telegraph also printed on the 5th that the funeral would take place at the residence of his father-in-law, William Fitzmaurice, 45 Queens Street.⁵
