Notes for Andrew (Andreas) Timan Holme |
At the age of 14 he went to sea and was fireman on several ships for 14 years traveling all over the world. One of his favorite ships on which he worked was the private yacht of Sir Thomas Lipton. When home at Bomlo between ships he met and courted Anna Thea Hustvedt of Haugesund. (As there was no other means of transport he used a rowboat to go to Haugesund to do his courting. Now, since 1971, there is a ferry between Bomlo and Haugesund. Prior to then there were no cars on Bomlo). USA citizen. |
Notes for Andrew (Andreas) Timan & Anna Thealine (Family) |
In 1906 they went to New York with 18 month old Aslaug (Elsie). Because the climate did not agree with Anna, they moved to Anaconda, Montana where several families from Haugesund had settled. He was a foreman of the "Rope Gang" in Anaconda. Because the air pollution caused by the copper smelter where he worked bothered him, he & the family moved to Casper, Wyoming in 1919 where he worked as a pipefitter helper in the "Midwest Oil Refinery". In 1930 the family moved to Los Angeles and then to San Pedro where he worked as a rigger (hook tender) at Todd Shipyards. |
