Ella Heberling

Ella Heberling Ella's real name was probably Eliza Ellen Heberling. She used first names of Ella, Ellie, and Eliza. I call her Ella. Here is a picture of her apparently late in life.

She was born at Mt. Hope, Grant County, Wisconsin on Oct. 27, 1863.

At some point after her 1901 divorce from Antoine L. Dunston, she married a John C. Johnson who was from England. In the (June 1) 1905 Wisconsin state census, she appears as his wife. He is 70 and retired, and she is 38. John owns a house, free of mortgage. Ella's mother, age 83, is also in the household. Ella still had the Johnson name and a Madison address in 1906. Sarah gives her and possibly her parents' birthplace as Pennsylvania.

On March 13, 1910, Ella was married to Aaron T. Keith of Flandreau, SD. In the 1910 census, this is listed as her second marriage (!).

She died November 7, 1913, in Flandreau, SD. At the time of her death, she had four living sisters and one brother according to the obituary:

Ella was the daughter of Jonathan and Sarah J. Heberling. Jonathan had an 1855 land patent in Grant County. 1860 census info:

Ella is on that very last line. I'd be interested in contacts with descendents of any of Ella's siblings in case there are any records about the Ella-Antoine family.

Jonathan was born in Pennsylvania on March 5, 1815, and died on March 23, 1897, in Boscobel. He was married April 29, 1841 to Sarah Jane [what surname?].
