Service in Confederate Army

Manson and his brother John were both privates in the "Cahaba Valley Rangers", Company C, . Manson was shot through the right thigh with a minnie ball which broke his thigh bone. According to pension records, Manson lost the use of his right leg due to this wound. He spent September and October 1863 in Lumpkin Hospital, Rome Georgia. Captured or surrendered before March 1865, paroled at Newton NC, April 19, 1865.
