Marriage Licenses: 15 Oct 1885 thru 2006 The marriage licenses from 1885 thru the early 1900s are simple, to say the least. The names of the parents are not listed, unless one of them had to give consent for a minor to marry, in which case, the name is generally Mr. ___ or Mrs. ___. After 1910, the marriage licenses contained more information, ie: the name of the parents, although not much care was taken in obtaining this information. There are many errors in spelling, dates, etc. The YEAR of marriage is necessary to have BEFORE you order a marriage license. There are between 3 and 9 VERY HEAVY volumes PER YEAR to search, and they are NOT alphabetized, so a guestimate will only waste your money and the researcher's valuable time. Please be sure of the year BEFORE you order. The marriage license dockets cannot be photocopied, so they are hand written and then transcribed onto a very nice form and mailed to you with all of the information that was available for that application. Please make sure to put "MARRIAGES" in the subject line so our researchers know it is not SPAM.
