1. John Sipple The Elder , son of Garrett Sipple and Mary Calvert , was born <1682> ^{1 2} and died between 30 Oct 1752 and 16 Dec 1752 in , Kent County, Delaware, USA.^{3 4 5 6}

General Notes: On 13 Aug 1754 Prudence, William Sipple, and John Sipple, executors of John's will, sold, for 90 pounds, 175 acres in Murderkill Hd. called Mary and Ann, to Joseph Campbell. The land had been conditionally left to his son Uriah, who did not fulfill the conditions of the will. Uriah apparently acquired part of the tract regardless, as he sold it in 1756.

On 07 May 1711 John bought from Griffeth Hughs and wife Anne, for 10 pounds, 50 acres on the north side of a fork of Murderkill Creek, adjoining Richard Wells.

John made his will 30 Oct 1752; it was probated 16 Dec 1752. In it he mentioned his wife Prudence; sons Martinus, Nathaniel, Uriah, John, and William; daughters Rachel, Sarah, and Joanna; Sarah Millally. His executors were Prudence and his sons William and John; witnesses were Mark Smith, John Clother, and James Berry.

On 17 Nov 1727 John and Susannah sold land to John Bowers, part of a tract called 'New Seven Haven.' William Freeman, the original owner, had died intestate and without issue, and the land went to his sister Sarah and her husband, Cornelius Sullivan. Cornelius and Sarah sold it to William Annand, who conveyed it back to Sullivan, who conveyed it to Sipple on 14 Feb 1723.

On 14 Feb 1723 John and wife Susanna sold to Cornelius Sullivan land she had inherited from her father, Stephen Simmons, adjoining former land of Thomas Heatherd. The land was called 'Liverpool' and was on the north side of Murder Creek and Services Branch.

On 14 May 1729 John and wife Susannah sold the same land to David Leech, for 32 pounds. ^{7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14}

On 25 Nov 1761 Martinus and Anna gave to Anna's son John Cole 36 acres, including the house they lived in, on condition that they continue to use the land during their lifetime; the land, part of 100 acres surveyed for Martinus by warrant, adjoined John Cloather and Michal Furbey. ^{26 27 28}

On 3 MAR 1792 Michael Furbee, 'now of Monongah aley County in the state of Virganey but formerly of Murderkil l Hundred in Kent County and state of Delaware, the son of Benja min Furbee, late of the last Mentioned Place, Farmer, deceased, ' for 24 pounds good gold or silver money sold to Thomas Ricket ts of Murderkill Hundred two parcels of land marked 'upon the di vision of the said Benjamin Furbee's real estate with the lette r A as well all his the said Michael Furbee's Right & Estate…tha t that descended and became his Right by the death of his Brothe rs Benjamin & Bowers Furbee…' The deed was recorded 11 DEC 1793. ^{56 57}

General Notes: On 23 OCT 1788 Benjamin's brother Michael was said to be the only surviving heir of their brother Bowers. On 16 MAR 1790 Thomas Ricketts, Benjamin's administrator, said his personal estate was insufficient to pay his debts and petitioned the court for permission to sell Benjamin's land. Benjamin's father, Benjamin, had died intestate, leaving a widow, Sarah, and three children: Benjamin, Bowers, and Michael. The son Benjamin inherited plot C, 24 acres, and also acquired plot B, 63-1/2 acres, that was all otted to his brother Michael. Benjamin was also entitled to one fourth of his father's real estate that was allotted to Sarah, the plot marked A, 30 acres. Benjamin, who died intestate, unmarried, and without issue, now had three parcels: plots C, B, and A. These were sold to Henry Moleston, the highest bidder, for 66 pounds 10 shillings. ⁵⁵

Littell was born July 3, 1808, probably at Littell's Station, located at the head of the north fork of Forklick Creek, on or near the dry ridge road southeast of present day Williamstown. He was the second child and second son of James Littell and Milcah Stanford/Standiford, who were married September 6, 1786 in Bourbon County, Virginia/Kentucky. James M. Littell's paternal grandparents were James Littell, ca 1720-1762 and Alice Moffitt, married 1744, both natives of Ireland. His maternal grandparents were Aquila Stanford/Standiford and Sarah Clark.

James A. LITTELL is a son of James M. and Sarah (Sipple) LITTELL, and was born in Grant County, June 18, 1849. His grandfather was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. His father was a Missourian, while his mother was a native Kentuckian. There were eight children in his father's family, three boys and five girls, four of whom are yet living. He was born and reared to manhood on his father's farm. He went to school in the winter and assisted in the manifold duties incumbent on a farmer in the summer. His education was limited to the common schools. For a number of years he owned and operated a distillery a short distance from Williamstown, but later sold out his distilling interests and embarked in the retail liquor business near Williamstown. He was married June 16, 1869, to Miss Barbara Gouge, daughter of the old war horse of Democracy. T. J. Gouge. To this union five children have been born, only two of whom are now living, Zadah, a very handsome young lady, and Tol, and handsome and intelligent youngster of ten or twelve years. In politics Mr. LITTELL is a Democrat, and has never voted anything else than the Democratic ticket. He is kind-hearted and a man of good impulses. ⁹²
