Gallatin, The County Seat
of Sumner County, Tennessee

The postmark on the back of this postcard reads 1911. When he snapped the picture for this old postcard, Max R. Bandy captured the small-town charm of Gallatin around the turn of the century. This shot is of East Main Street, maybe headed toward the Scottsville Pike area. You can see part of the "old slave fence" on the right side of the photo. Parts of this fence still stand today.

This postcard of Gallatin's Main Street may be the only one in existence.
