WEBB2002
A celebration of the 200th birthday of Isaac Blackman Webb

Join us for the Webb Chapel reunion on June 1, 2002.

Four weekend events highlight the celebration of the 200th birthday of Isaac B. Webb, our pioneer ancestor who moved his family to the Republic of Texas and founded the first church in Dallas County.

The schedule:

Webb2002 is the name we have given to this 200th anniversary celebration, sponsored jointly by Webb Chapel United Methodist Church and Webb Chapel Cemetery Association. Isaac B. Webb founded both the church and the cemetery.

The following two pages provide additional information about the four special events. The back page has addresses, a map and other information.

THE WEBB CHAPEL REUNION
JUNE 1, 2002

Webb Chapel United Methodist Church

Morning events and lunch will be held at Webb Chapel United Methodist Church. After lunch, we will visit Webb Chapel Cemetery.

10 to 11:45 a.m.

This computer file has family tree information on eight generations of Webb Chapel families. To make sure your family is included, bring with you the full names of your relatives, birth dates, marriage dates, names of children and dates of deaths.

You will have an opportunity to spend eight minutes before a professional video camera to tell a story about your family. To do this, come prepared with the full names of the people you will discuss, and dates of important events.

Historical displays provided by Webb Chapel Cemetery Association, Webb Chapel United Methodist Church, Peters Colony Historical Society, and Dallas County Pioneer Association will be located throughout the Church. Tables will be available for your use in sharing your family photos and memories.

You will learn how you can use the Internet from your computer at home to look up information about Webb Chapel families in our database.

ANNUAL MEETING
WEBB CHAPEL CEMETERY ASSOCIATION

The annual meeting of the Webb Chapel Cemetery Association, made up of people who have relatives buried in the cemetery, will be held in the church at 11 a.m.

There are no dues, but members are invited to make annual gifts as suggested in 1938:
$5 for a member of your immediate family.
$2 for a grandparent.
$1 for any other person related to you.
Larger gifts, of course, are welcome. Gifts can be made at the meeting or by using the enclosed envelope.

LUNCH AT THE CHURCH
11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A Texas barbeque lunch will be served free of charge, courtesy of Webb Chapel Cemetery Association, to all who register by May 15, 2002. After that date, any remaining tickets will be available at $10 each.

A commemorative program honoring Isaac B. Webb will begin promptly at 12:15 p.m., and adjourn at 1 p.m.

Presiding: The Rev. Joyce Cravens, pastor of Webb Chapel United Methodist Church, and Mark Asbury, president of the board of trustees of Webb Chapel Cemetery.

THE TRIP TO WEBB CHAPEL CEMETERY

A shuttle bus will run continuously between the church and the cemetery from 1 to 4 p.m. You can stay at the cemetery as long as you wish, and leave when you are ready.

PLEASE NOTE: There is no parking at the cemetery. If you drive, you will have to park on a busy city street and you may have to walk a considerable distance. Therefore, you are strongly urged to take the bus to the cemetery. There will be this exception for persons with disabilities: their cars will be allowed up the cemetery entrance ramp for the brief time it takes to drop them off and pick them up, but those cars will be required to park elsewhere.

VISIT TO WEBB CHAPEL CEMETERY
1 to 4 p.m. June 1, 2002

At the cemetery:

CONCERT BY DALLAS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Farmers Branch Historical Park
8 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002

Each summer, as part of its community outreach program, the symphony presents a free concert at Farmers Branch Historical Park, 2540 Farmers Branch Lane, ending with a fireworks display.

This year the concert is on the same day as our family reunion. At the church we will have maps and parking information.

Gilbert House

While you are in the park, you may want to visit the Gilbert House, home of Dr. Samuel H. & Julia (Richey) Gilbert, who are buried at Webb Chapel Cemetery. The Gilbert House is the oldest rock structure in Northeast Texas that is still on its original foundation and is listed in the national Register of Historic Places and Landmarks.

SOCIAL EVENT FOR STUDENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS
7 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2002

Young people of Webb Chapel families will meet for a "Dutch treat" dinner at 7 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Celebration Restaurant, 4503 W. Lovers Lane in Dallas. For more information, contact Katherine J. Murray at: [email protected].

SUNDAY MORNING CHURCH SERVICE
Webb Chapel United Methodist Church
10:50 a.m. June 2, 2002

All who attend the reunion are invited to attend the Sunday morning church service.

During the service, the church will commemorate the 200th birthday of Isaac B. Webb, and the minister will recognize people who have attended the reunion.

Webb Chapel Cemetery Association will donate altar flowers in memory of Isaac B. Webb.
