At the June, 1998 Webb Chapel Cemetery Association (WCCA) meeting, Richard Monroe and Jan Jones (trustee and spouse) accepted the challenge to research all of the known descendants of those buried at Webb Chapel Cemetery in preparation for the June 2002 reunion.

Since that time we have attended meetings of the Peters Colony Historical Society, Dallas County Pioneer Association, the Irving and Dallas genealogical societies, and a Dallas County Historical Cemetery workshop. We have done our best to put out the word with these organizations about the continuing search for descendants.

Jan posted numerous messages on genealogical bulletin boards and email lists and started receiving email correspondence. If you would like the WCCA to have your email address please send it to jjbead@prodigy.net

We have spent numerous hours in the Irving, Dallas, Farmers Branch, and Carrollton public libraries' genealogical sections reviewing the 1850 - 1940 census, cemetery listings, county histories, microfilmed newspapers, and other records. The active members of the WCCA have been requested to send in Family Group Sheets. A number of interviews have been recorded.

Jan transcribed and photographed all of the headstones in the cemetery. The transcription was published in the May 2002 issue of "Elm Fork Echoes", the annual journal of the Peters Colony Historical Society of Dallas County, Texas.

The Webb Chapel Cemetery Association genealogical database currently contains over 3100 direct descendants and spouses. Of that number approximately 260 have headstones in the cemetery. Our focus has been on tracing descendants, but we do have a small amount of ancestral information in the database. A limited version of the database has been posted on the RootsWeb WorldConnect project. For privacy purposes, certain information has been withheld for living persons. You can link to this database by clicking here: Webb Chapel Cemetery Association Database

The WCCA invites you to review the information and provide us with corrections and additions. If you are a family member, contact us by private email and we will discuss the possibility of releasing information to you that is not posted on the public database. We look forward to corresponding with you.

In peace and harmony,

Jan Jones and Richard Monroe
