" My Clayton and Bedwell families have a strange asssociation with WILLIAAM CLARK. His wife,Honour, married Thomas Bedwell after his death (bef 1704) and it appears that Thomas Bidwell there upon became exor of William Clarke. In addition I found a Clark association with John Stuckbury in Lewes. When my ancestor, James Clayton, moved from Kent Co.,DE..to Hyde Co.,NC.,he sold property to a John Stuckbury. And finally the matter of Coudrey; in 1738, when James Clayton left Kent, he sold 260 acres in the forest of Murderkill to Perter Coudrey. Peter may be the "child begotten on the body of Sarah Warren" so likely Coudrey, perhaps reared by Honour Clark, Bedwell, was a cousin.
Notes:
" In 1697 John Stuckbury lived in Lewes and was assiged a property there named Robert's Choice: he served on petit and grand juries for several years, and appeared in Sussex Co. court records re litigation. He also appeared as witmess in a marriage at the home of William Clark, first husband of Honour, who later married Thomas Bedwell. Bedwill became Wm Clark's executor,. in 1685 William Clark had been a witness at the marriage of John Tuxbury to Elenor Richards. "
Prob Sx 1677 "November 2, 1692 Wm Coudrey appears to have died ca 1682. His estate was in the hands of William Clark, one of the Burgesses of Sussexx Co. (Bedwell married a Clark Widow Honour)
In 1679 Wm Clarke was one of the Justices of the Court at Horekill
Wm Coudrey appears to have died ca 1682 .His estate was in the hands of William Clark, one of the Burgesses of Sussex Co DE.
Wm Courdrey begot a child on the body of Sarah Warrin, and the court ordered sale of his plantation with the proceeds to be used to rear the child.
The last 3 bidders were John Hill 7000 lb tabacco
William Darvall 7100 lb tobacco
William Clark 7200 lb tobacco
Wm Clark got the plantation and the "child is undertaken to be brought up by the said Wm Clark" to 21 for 1900 lbs of Tobacco. Court adjourned. (the plantation was on Cedar Creek and adj the land of Alex. Draper, also a Burgess.) William Clark lived in Lewes "

Deb Have you seen this? It mentions a Sussex Co William Clark selling land in
1702. (On the next to the last line of this entry) It's from the Lacey

Court, Liber #1, p. 7). John Lacy was a planter (landowner) who first appeared in the Delaware records when he purchased 200 acres of land from Richard Ward in February 1703 (Deed Book C-3, pp. 89-92). The fact is that he purchased 200 acres. The deed says that the 200 acres were part of 400 acres belonging to Richard Ward that he had purchased from William Clark in 1702. In Scharf's History of Delaware, page 1340, there is this paragraph;"Jacob's Struggle", containing two hundred and eight acres, taken up by Jacob Gray, was reassigned to John Aydelott, February 13, 1750. It was on the west side of a creek issuing from the Indian River, and adjoining the former residence of ________ Clark, and "Evan's Venture".
In 1750 there were two John Aydelotts in Sussex Co. One was the father of William, who was John's eldest son and the father of Esther. The other was John B.L. the brother of William, uncle of Esther. I believe the older man is the one referred to in the paragraph is Scharf's, but that the younger John came to own land next to it, or the original property may have been divided among the elder John's sons.
At any rate the Aydelott land was bounded by land owned by _____ Clark,***the same land my Levin Clark owned by the 1785 tax census, when he is the only Clark male listed in the Baltimore Hundred***. Since Levin was not yet born in 1750 this would have almost certainly have been his father.Since William died in 1785 it appears William Clark could have been Levin's father, and if he is the owner of this property I think we can claim
preponderance of evidence that he **was** Levin's father.
child47 iv. Elizabeth CLARKE was born about 1730.(129)
