- Will. Willard Jay Wilson was born at Hammond, St. Lawrence
County New York, August 9th. 1856.
He came to Winfield, Kansas to take a position with Mr. N. P. Kinne, register
of Deeds of Cowley County March 15th. 1878. In the fall of 1878 he was made
Deputy County Treasurer under Mr. Thos. R. Bryan and also served in that capacity
under Mr. L. B. Stone and Mr. James Harden.
He left Winfield in the fall of 1890 and went to Albuquerque, New Mexico as bookkeeper
in a Bank there.
From Albuquerque he went to Williams, Arizona in 1896 as Bookkeeper for a Lumber
Mill.
He returned to Winfield in the winter of 1897-1898 as Deputy County Treasurer
under Mr. M. F. Smith which position he held until august 1st. 1905 when he took
a position with the P. H. Albright & Co. which position he held until he retired
January 1st. 1933.
From January 1st. 1933 he lived at his home on east eleventh avenue until he
pass away on August 22nd. 1936. He was 80 years and 13 days old.
He married Miss. Kathrine Millington at Winfield, Kansas November 22nd. 1883
who passed away November 27th. 1927.
Three children were born to this union and all are living.

Besides his children, a sister Mr. M. W. J. Holt, Cleveland, Oklahoma and six

and Millington K. Wilson, Peoria, Illinois and James A. Wilson and Joseph M.
Wilson, Winfield, Kansas, survive him.

MRS. MILLINGTON DEAD.
Pioneer Woman of Winfield Passed Away Last Night. Mrs. Mary A. Millington one
of the pioneer women of Winfield died last night about nine o'clock at her home,
420 East Tenth. The funeral services will be at the home tomorrow afternoon
at three o'clock. She was eighty-three years old, and death was caused by paralysis.
