shows the gravestone of the following Wainwrights,
(which have not yet been linked as ancestors).
The inscription appears to be:
HERE RESTETH IN HOPE THE BODY OF
WALTER HENRY SON OF WILLIAM AND
HARRIET WAINWRIGHT OF PENISTONE
WHO DIED ON DECEMBER 16th 1864 AGED 6 WEEKS
ALSO THE BODY OF BENJAMIN THEIR SON
WHO DIED SEPTEMBER 2nd 1865 AGED 2 YEARS
ALSO THE BODY OF JOHN THEIR SON WHO
DIED MAY 23rd 1866 AGED 4 YEARS
ALSO THE BODY OF FRED THEIR SON WHO
DIED JUNE 9th 1866 AGED 6 MONTHS
ALSO THE BODY OF THE ABOVE WILLIAM
WAINWRIGHT WHO DIED JULY 5, 1866
AGED 36 YEARS
Note the family tragedy this stone records over a 1½ year period:
A 6 week old son died.
Less than 10 months later a 2 year old son died.
Less than 9 months later, a 4 year old son died.
Less that 4 weeks later, a 6 month old son died.
Less than a month later, the husband died at age 36.
