Mildred Parsons' Father
Proof of Mildred Jane Parsons' father
Mildred Parsons was born in Belgrove, Jackson County, WV on November 23, 1912. The birth register for Jackson County only lists her mother, Maude Parsons.
Her father is not listed. When Mildred was born, her mother Maude was not wed to the father. Every indication points to Everett Casto as the father. According to Mildred's
Social Security application her father was Everett Casto. This was an official document that Mildred would have no reason to lie about. She believd that
her father was named Everett Casto. On her death certificate, her father is listed as Everett Casto Parsons. My aunt Zelma Wheeler Price indicated before she died that Mildred's dad was
Everett Casto.
There were several Everett Castos listed in the 1910 Jackson County census. But only one of them was of the right age and lived in the vicinity of Maude. This was Everett D. Casto,
the son of George N. and Esther Casto. Interestingly enough, when I contacted Casto researcher, Betty McIntyre, she shows in her records that Maude Parsons first marriage was to a Casto, no name given.
The records of Jackson County show no such marriage.
All of these clues together provide circumstantial evidence that my Great Grandfather was Everett Casto, son of George and Esther. I don't have 100 % confidence about this but I do think that it is a
reasonable conclusion to come to. I hope to someday unearth a conclusive, without a doubt record, but until then I am going to work under the assumption that this Everett Casto is Mildred's dad.
