1. Thomas Hewitt born 1630 England died May 1662. Thomas was a seafaring man, was lost at sea on a voyage May, 1662, Thomas married 26 Apr 1659 at Stonington, New London, CT to Hannah Palmer born 1634 bpt 15 June 1634 First Church in Charlestown, Suffolk, MA died 25 Aug 1681 at Stonington, New London, CT daughter of Walter Palmer and his second wife Rebecca Short.

In the old church records of Roxbury, Mass., the following appears: Rebecca Short came in the year 1632, and married Walter Palmer, a godly man of Charlestown church, which they joined June 1st, 1633. The children of this union were: Hannah Palmer, Elihu Palmer, Nehemiah Palmer, Moses Palmer, Benjamin Palmer, Gershom Palmer, and Rebecca Palmer.

Thomas Hewitt who established a West India trade, and in the year 1662 set out with a stock for trade in one of the coasting ships "and was never heard of more." In 1670 Mrs. Hannah Hewitt petitioned the General Court of Connecticut for liberty to re-marry, which was granted. Eight years after the death of Thomas, Hannah married on 27 Dec 1671 to Roger Sterry born ca 1630 died bef 1680 as her second husband by whom she had Hannah and Samuel Sterry. After Roger died, Rebecca married a third time on 25 Aug 1681 as his third wife to John Fish born 1621 Great Bowden, England died 1689 Groton, New London, CT. Hannah and John Fish had no issue.

Roger Sterry was born ca 1630 and must have died before 1680, as his widow Hannah, married again in 1681.

William Billing was ensign 15 Mar 1704, and Captain 11 Oct 1716 in the Preston Company. he was deputy from Preston 13 May 1703 and later. In his will dated 4 June 1737 and proved 12 July 1738 he mentions his wife Hannah, his sons William (dceased), Joseph, Samuel and Roger, his daughters Mary Boardman, Prudence, Rachel Kennedy, Hannah Clarke, Elizabeth Avery and Dorothy Edwards and his grandchilden Dorothy Edwards, William Edwards amd Hannah daughter of son Samuel.

Samuel Sterry born about 1674 died 1734. He married first in 1703 Hannah Rose who died in 1724; married second 8 Feb 1725 Mehitable (Fenner) Starkweather widow of Timothy Starkweather. Children by first wife: Hannah, Samuel, Cyprian, Robert, Zerviah; children by second wife: Sarah and Roger. Samuel's widow married 3rd Dr. Wm. Blodgett

He was town clerk of Preston, CT in 1712. In 1701 he bought a hundred acres of land in the town of Preston on Upper Mountain, called Matteyhook Hill.

Thomas and Persis resided in Stonington until 1716 when they moved to Plainfield, Windham, CT where they lived until 1738 when they moved to Falls Village near Canaan, CT.

After Lydia died, Isaac married late in life to Mrs. Amy Whitney, who survived him.

Capt. Isaac Lawrence the second son of Capt. Daniel, and grandson of Enosh, was born in Groton, Mass., Feb. 25, 1704/5, and was bpt there Nov. 25, 1705, by the Rev. John Hancock of Lexington. While yet a young child, he went with his parents to Plainfield, CT. He married there, Dec. 19, 1727, Lydia Hewitt; and four of their eleven children (Jonas, Azubah, Stephen, and Isaac, jun.) were born in that town. He was granted the liberty of voting in town affairs Dec. 3, 1730, and the same year was chosen a surveyor of highways. At the New London auction sale, Jan. 4, 1738, elsewhere mentioned, he purchased three shares, or rights, in the township of Canaan. In the late spring of that year he left Plainfield and journeyed westward, taking with him the members of his family and their household effects, and travelling in a covered wagon drawn by a yoke of oxen and a horse. After Joseph Segar died Thankful married 19 Nov 1747 as her second husband Samuel Churchill son of Ensign Samuel Churchill and Martha Boardman.
