HI Roberta, Im trying to trace back a little bit of my family, and Im not sure if you can help, but my grandparents were Clyde & Armintha (Wildrick) of Glen Gardner. Mr Grandmother was the daughter of Elizabeth & John Wildrick of Hope NJ. If I can get a lead , perhaps Elizabeth's maiden Name, but at any rate, do you think that your Wildrick family has any connection with my Wildrick family? Im told that somewhere back to the Wildricks, maybe on my great grandmothers side were american indians, any info would be great to get me started in the right direction. I know that they are buried in a small grave yard just outside of Hope NJ, I believe just before Route 80. Any input you have would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

My name is William Wildrick. I brought up your site on the Wildrick Family by bringing up my last name on a search mode and after looking at it I could not find any direct connection to my family with the information that I have, although there were a lot of similarities as far as names and locations. I,m hopeing you can supply me with the link with the information that I have and if not maybe it can be useful to you.

My father Frank Arthur Wildrick who died in 1985 lived in Millbrook, NJ just a few miles north of Blairstown when he was born. His birthdate was 12/27/1914. My grandparents names where Isaac and Agnes ( maiden name Hunt ). I did not know any thing about my grandfather cause he had passed away quite a few years before I was born 5/15/54. My grandmother lived in our family till she died in 1985. They are both buried in Blairstown, I'm not sure of the cemeterys name but I believe it's on Route 94.

I can also supply you with my dads siblings names but hardly no info.

  1. Roscoe b. 1900
  2. George
  3. Ester
  4. Enda
  5. Hannah b. 1919 ( still alive but unable to supply information )

I would appreciate any information you can give me, but if you can please respond anyway

Hi! I just found your Web Site. It's great. William E. Wildrick (21-1-14) is my great great grandfather. You may want to check the accuracy of your information on him though. You state that he married Charity Rice on Jan. 17, 1850 and settled at the Brier Patch, Susquehanna County, PA. However, the articles I have that were written by William Clinton Armstrong and published in the American Register in 1930, states that William E. married Barbara Ann Sears in New Jersey on December 11, 1847 and that William's brother, David Wildrick, was married to Charity Rice. I am sure this was just a transcription error or an error on H.G. Wildrick's part when he compiled his booklet in 1949.

[ I've checked our transcription, and it's not a transcription error: see the scan of Page 35. However, there does appear to be an error in the pamphlet, in that logically the entry for 21-1-1 4 should be followed by that for 22-1-1 5. This is missing, the text reading

21-1-1 4. William E Wildrick
(4) married January 17, 1850,
to Charity Rice. They settled at
the Briar Patch, Susquehanna
County Pa.
23-1-1. 6 Abraham Wildrick
(4) of Hope N.J., married Nov-
ember 9, 1850 to Mary Hahn,
of Oxford, New Jersey

If a few lines of text, containing the end of the 21-1-1 4 entry and the beginning of the 22-1-1-5 entry, were omitted immediately after "William E Wildrick", so the text should have read something like this (with the missing lines shown emboldened for emphasis)

21-1-1 4. William E Wildrick
(4) married December 11, 1847,
Barbara Ann Sears in NJ
22-1-1 5. David Wildrick
(4) married January 17, 1850,
to Charity Rice. They settled at
the Briar Patch, Susquehanna
County Pa.
23-1-1. 6 Abraham Wildrick
(4) of Hope N.J., married Nov-
ember 9, 1850 to Mary Hahn,
of Oxford, New Jersey
the pamphlet would be consistent with William Clinton Armstrong's account.]

I know it was a lot of work for you to input all of this information. I had not heard of H.G. Wildrick's book. The one I have is John Wildrick of New Jersey 1707-1793 "A Genealogy of the Descendants of His Son George Wildrick" by William Clinton Armstrong, Blairstown, New Jersey, 1933. Other books you may want to look for that mention the Wildrick family are "Pioneer Families of Northwestern New Jersey" by William C. Armstrong, Lambertville, NJ: Hunterdon House, 1979. 616 pages and "The Early Germans of New Jersey, their History, Churches & Genealogy", Hermann Theodore F. Chambers.

Beverley Gaylord Wildrick has sent details of the family of George Webster Willdrick (who added the extra l to his name so people would not pronounce it wrong). She asks if anyone has connected him to the family line.
