Note from the Web Page Author

Building this web page has been a labor of love, dedicated to those sons and daughters of Milford, Ellis County, Texas who served in World War II.  The information was originally contained in a book entitled, "MILFORD MEN and WOMEN in SERVICE - WORLD WAR II."  The book was given to my father, Robert Lee Williams Sr., by his paternal grandmother Julia Ann "Fannie" Miller Williams, widow of Louis Rickman Williams.  Both were long time residents of Milford.  Louis and Fannie Williams were the parents of three Milford servicemen to appear in this book: S/SGT Charlie R. Williams, CPL Lonnie "Lee" Williams, and lastly, Major John W. "Johnny" Williams, who gave his life in the service of his country.

This book was published in April 1944 by The Milford Press.  To the best of my knowledge, this company is now out of business and the copyright (if any) has long since expired.  If this is not the case, please email me by clicking here.

Since this web page is merely a scanned, on-line version of the book, I have had to straddle a fence between large file sizes and readability of the text.  I think I have found a happy medium.  But I do apologize if something is illegible.  Please feel free to contact me if something is unintelligible by clicking here.  I will try to send you the information.

The original publisher acknowledges in the book that it is an incomplete work.  Photos of certain service members were not available at the time of publication.  As I said, since this web page for the most part is a scanned version of the book, those same unintentional omissions are continued here.  If anyone has a photo or small paragraph of biographical information of a Milford service member from WWII not included here, I would be glad to add it to the web page if you will contact me by clicking here.

Since the war continued for almost a year and a half after this book was published, no doubt many of the service members contained herein later received promotions in rank.  The rank with which each service member is listed here on the web page must be considered only a snapshot in time from April 1944.  While I am willing to include individuals here that were missed in the original publication, I am unable to alter the rank or biographies of individuals in the original scanned pages.  Your understanding is most appreciated.
