A Page of Pallot’s

Here are some copies of Pallot’s Index of Marriages

The 1804 marriage of Peter Willgoose and Dorothy Bowler shows quite clearly

one of the ways in which the variants of our name came into being.

Although Peter had signed his name Willgoose, the Registrar in his wisdom

decided to write Wildgoose instead. Similarly, Ann Willgoose was also registered as Ann Wilgoose.
