ASA B. CARR
Asa B. Carr died Sunday morning at his home, 410 Lockwood. He had been ill for a year.
Mr. Carr was a pioneer rural mail carrier. He was born Nov. 15, 1873 in Alpena county and began carrying mail in the Hubbard lake area in 1905, using a horse and wagon. He retired in 1935. He resided on his farm on the Hubbard lake road until 1946 when he sold it to his son-in-law, Howard Rajala. Since then he had made his home on Lockwood-st.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, a charter member of Hubbard Lake Grange and had been president of the Hubbard lake Farm Loan association.
Surviving are his wife, the former Gertie E. Wilson; a son, Elwood, R 10; two daughters, Mrs. Howard Rajala (Grace) R 2, and Mrs. Harmas Dagenais (Lula), Hubbard lake; and 10 grandchildren. A brother, Oscar J. Carr, died Dec. 26, 1946. Another brother, Robert K., died July 27, 1952.
The body is at the Hunter funeral home where service will be Wednesday at 2, Mrs. Carl O. Joy of Hubbard Lake Methodist church officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
