Louis Kakwitch a veteran of the Civil War died last Thursday at his home
by the springs of the old South Branch road. We understand that he was
over ninety years old.

History - Was one of the first Menominee's to enlist. Was
wounded in the battle of Newtonia, Missouri on 30 Sep 1862. He was taken
prisoner at Jenkins Ferry and sent to Tyler, Texas upon which he was
released on 26 Feb 1865 and sent to New Orleans.
