Louis L Dickie, War Veteran, Dies

Military Services Were Held by Oshkosh Post

 

Funeral Rites for Louis L Dickie, a Spanish American was veteran, who passed away at the Veteran's hospital at Wood, Wis. last week were held at Riverside Cemetery at Oshkosh where burial took place.

 

Mr. Dickie had been at the hospital for the last three weeks. He was born in Ripon and had served in the third United States Cavalry under Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders in the Spanish American War. He had resided in Oshkosh for the past 24 years. Mr. Dickie was a member of the Nelson A Mills Camp No 1 United States Spanish War Veteran.

 

Surviving are his second wife, three sons and four daughters, one brother and two sisters. Survivors of his first wife, Mary Otter Dickie who was a member of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Keshena and who died December 26, 1916, are six sons and two daughters. One son served in WWI, one served in the Army and one served in the Navy after WWI.

 

The military services were held by Nelson A Mills Post of Oshkosh. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Lester Dickie, Mr. and Mrs. Louise M Dickie, Donald, Marian and Teddy Dickie, Mrs. Fannie Wheelock of Neopit. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lovjoi and Mr. and Mrs. M. Lovjoi of Fremont and C. Dickie of Ellsworth, Wisconsin.
