Fred Hennig, Pioneer Almon Resident, Dies in Antigo

 

Fred Hennig, 69, a resident of Bowler for the past 30 years, died Wednesday night at 11:00 at the Langlade Memorial Hospital in Antigo, where he had been receiving treatment for several days. Mr. Hennig was born in June, 1868, in Germany. When a boy he came to the U.S. with his parents for a short time in a German settlement a short distance north of New York city, and then came to Wisconsin and settled in the town of Almon. He moved to Bowler about 30 years ago and lived there until 5 years ago, when he went to live with his daughter, Mrs. Colburn Helgeson at Phlox. Mr. Hennig was Postmaster at Bowler for 13 years and was a Spanish American War Veteran. He was married to Minnie Carley at New London. The survivors are 1 step-daughter, Mrs. Colburn Helgeson of Phlox and one step-son, H. H. Carley of Bowler. His wife preceded him in death 3 years ago. Funeral services were held in Bowler Monday afternoon.
