DNB states in Tyrwhit(nee Oxenbridge) Elizabeth she is the daughter of Goddard Oxenbridge and 2nd wife Anne (d 1533), daughter of Thomas Fiennes. Her father Goddard Oxenbridge had a 1st wife Elizbeth, da of Thomas Echyngham. It states this Elizabeth Tyrwhit had a half-brother Thomas and half-sister Elizabeth. It goes on to say that her half sister also married a Robert Trywhit and that we should not confuse them.
Visitation of 1634 states: Goddard Oxenbridge had 3 wives Anne (should be Elizabeth) Echyngham, Anne Fiennes, 3rd Faith Devenish
1st wife had child:
Thomas Oxenbridge who married Elizabeth Putenham, da of Georg Putenham
this Thomas had daughter and heir Elizabeth who married -- Tirwhit of Kettleby
2nd marriage had 5 children: Wm, Robert, Elizabeh, Margaret, Mary.
This Elizabeth is supposedly the one DNB says married Robert Trywhit
3rd marriage had 2 children: Andrew and Ursula Oxenbrige
Then who is right, DnB or Visitations? Because of land inheritance it looks like Visitations is right unless my poor old eyes have read it wrong. The Land of Echyngham descended via the heirs of Elizbeth who married Goddard and can be followed down to 1800.
And to make things worse, Stuart Hall in his book "Echyngham of Echyngha' 1850 : "Elizabeth Echyngham da of Thomas and Margaret West md Roger Fiennes and had Anne - md first John Windsor brother to Andrews Windsor 2nd Goddard Oxenbridge and had Thomas Oxenbridge whose daughter married Robert Tyrwhit who dies 1581"
