Daniel Killian was born in North Carolina in 1790 and Mary Bost Daniel Killian and his wife Mary Elizabeth Bost, are my g-g-g-grandparents. I have searched and researched for more than twenty years for their parents, but I have not found anyone whom I can say, for sure, are their parents. In 1933, Yates Killian, who was the Historian of the North Carolina Killian's, wrote to a grandson of Elias Killian, who lived in Ft. Payne, Alabama, that he understood that Elias was a native of Asheville, North Carolina and he  inquired if he (Elias) was a son of any of the sons of Daniel Killian Sr. A family record indicates that Daniel Killian could have been a son of an Andrew Killian. The only Andrew, who could have been Daniel's father is  Andrew Killian Sen., found in the 1800 Census of Lincoln County, North Carolina, but that now seems unlikely. Andrew had a son in that census that was in the right age range for Daniel. There is also a report that Daniel is the son of Abraham Killian. In researching Abraham, I have not found where he named a son Daniel. There is also a possibility that Daniel could be the son of John Killian who is in the 1820 Census of Warren County, Tennessee, and in 1828 went to Orange County, Indiana where he applied for a Revolutionary War Pension. In the 1800 Census of Lincoln County, North Carolina, John had a son in the age range who could be Daniel Killian born in 1790.  This is speculation on my part without any proof. Daniel's wife Mary, could be the daughter of John Bost and wife Catrenna Shuford.  John was the son of Johannes Bast and wife Susannah Catharina Bast. My great grandfather, Marion Moore Killian, said his grandmother's name was Elizabeth Boss. The t seems to be silent when the name Bost is pronounced, which may result in why Marion used the name Boss. John Bost and Catreena Shuford had a daughter they named Elizabeth. According to the Bost researcher in North Carolina, Mary Pegram West, John was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Aug.23, 1743. He married Catrenna Shuford, daughter of John Shuford. John and Catrenna lived in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. John died in 1793 at the age of 50. It is thought Catrenna died about 1797/98. Their daughter, Elizabeth, age 7 1/2 was bound to William Mintzinger in 1798 for 10 years. She could be my g-g-g-grandmother. There seems to be close ties between the Daniel Killian family and the Bost family. William Killian, who is the son of Samuel C., married an Elizabeth Bost in 1816. I believe this Elizabeth is the daughter of John Bost and wife Alice. This John Bost is the son of William Bost,  son of Johannes Bost and wife Susannah.  William and Daniel  Killian can  be found in Warren County, Tennessee, and Dade County, Georgia. The research is on- going.

Daniel Killian was born in North Carolina in 1790 and wife Mary Bost was born in 1790 in North Carolina. Daniel died in 1876 in Dekalb County, Alabama and his wife Mary died in  1878 in Dekalb County, Alabama. She is listed in the 1850 thru 1870 census of Alabama as Mary but the name Polly is on her tombstone. Both are buried in the Killian Cemetery on US Highway 11 about two miles north of Portersville, Alabama. Portersville is between Collinsville and Ft. Payne, Alabama.  The first information I have found on Daniel is in the 1820 Census of Warren County, Tennessee where he is listed with two males under 10, one 10-15 years old and 3 females, 2 under 10 and 1 between 26-45. Daniel's age is listed as being between 26 and 45. Daniel is found in the 1840 Census of  Dade County, Georgia, and is listed as Killen. By 1850, Daniel and part of his family had moved to Dekalb County, Alabama. There is some question about Cain Killian being a son or brother of Daniel. Cain's tombstone list his birth as 1799, but most census list his birth as being in 1808. I will agree with the census, and therefore say, he is the son of  Daniel and Mary.

Could Catherine have been the Martha Matilda Killian wife of John Alexander Hill who died September 22,1846 in the Mexican War? Hill researchers say that Larkin Hill was born to John Hill and Martha Matilda Killian who must have soon died. Larkin was said to have been raised by an uncle. Larkin was born in Warren County, Tennessee in 1839. He joined the Confederate Army in Jackson County, Alabama in 1861 at the age of 22. Benjamin Killian, son of Catherine Killian named a daughter Matilda Catherine Killian. Is this the name of his mother? But this leaves the question of who is the father of her Killian children. Some long and hard research may turn up the answer.
