In the name of God Amen the nineteenth
day of November in the year of our lord according to the stile of England
One thousand sixe hundred Fifty and five I John Flowck of Wightfield
in the parish of Deerehurst and county of Gloucester yeoman, being weake in
body yet of an able disposeing memorie (thankes be unto God therefore) doe
make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge,
First I desire to commend my soule into the hands of Almighty God my maker,
resting on the alone merritts of Jesus Christ my redeemer for salvation And
my body I commend to the Earth to be interred at the discretion of myne Executrix
hereafter mencioned And for my worldly goods which God hath endowed me with
I give and bequeath in manner and forme followinge First I give and bequeath
to my sonne in lawe John Higgs and Joane Higgs his nowe wife,
that summe of fourtie pounds which they owe me by specialty And to Edward
Staunton the sonne of the said Joane Higgs my daughter I give
the sume of one hundred pounds of lawfull English money to be paid unto him
when he shall accomplish the age of seaventeene yeares Also I give unto my
Grandchilde Hannah Staunton daughter of the said Joane Higgs the
full sume of Two hundred pounds of lawfull English money to be paid unto
her when she shall accomplish the age of seaventeene yeares Alsoe I give
unto her one presse cupboard which was my sister Joane Pixleys Alsoe
I give unto Elizabeth Higgs my Grandchild one hundred pounds of lawfull
English money to be paid unto her when she shall accomplish the age of seaventeene
yeares And whereas my daughter Joan Higgs is nowe with childe I give
to the saide childe (be it sonne or daughter) The sume of one hundred pounds
of lawfull English money to be paid at the same age as the aforesaid Children;
And if any of these Children of my said daughter Joan Higgs shall dye
before they accomplish the said age Then my will is that the portion or portions
in this my will given by me unto them shalbe and remayne to the surviving
children on the body of my said daughter Joane lawfully begoten to
be equally divided amongst them Alsoe I give unto John Beale my sonne
in lawe Twentie shillings And to his nowe wife Agnis Twentie shillings
of lawfull English money Alsoe I give and bequeath unto Jonathan Beale
my Grandchilde all the residue and remaynder Terme and number of
yeares which shalbe then to come and unexpired after the death and decease
of Margery my wife of and in all that one plott or parcell of grounde
called the dolem lyeing in Oake dole sometime heretofore taken of Oliver
Partridge Gent, as in and by the Lease thereof will at large appeare And
alsoe I give unto the said Jonathan Beale the remaynder of one other
Lease which I hold of a certaine peece of ground commonly called Shields-hose
lyeing neere Deerehurst, when he shall accomplish the age of seaventeene
yeares And alsoe the remainder terme and number of yeares which shalbe then
to come of and in one other Lease which I hold from the Lord Cranfield,
and one John Hopcott after the decease of my wife as aforesaid with
all the issues profitts, benefitts and comodities whatsoever ariseing out
of the same Alsoe I give unto my Grandchild Marie Beale The sume of
Two hundred and fiftie pounds of lawfull English money to be paid unto her
when she shall accomplish the age of seaventeene yeares, And my will is that
if eyther of these shall dye before he or shee accomplish the age of Seaventeene
yeares Then the portion of the deceased shalbe and remayne to the Surviveing
Alsoe I give and bequeath unto my daughter Jane Francombe Five pounds
of lawfull English money And to all the Children which are on her body lawfully
begotten nowe liveinge at the making of this my last will I give the three
hundred pounds of lawfull English money which my sonne in lawe John Francombe
oweth me upon a bargaine of land to be equally divided amongst
them when they shall accomplish the age of Seaventeene yeares And if any
of them shalldye before the said age Then the portion of the deceased shalbe
and remayne to the surviveing to be equally divided betwixt them Alsoe I
will give and bequeath to my son John Flowck the dole which I tooke
of the foresaid Oliver Partridge by Lease lyeinge in the Ham Meade
he the said John Flowck paying unto the chiefe Lord two shillings
six pence a yeare yearly dureing the said Lease And I doe forgive unto my
sonne John Flowck such sums of money which he oweth unto me eyther
by specialtie or upon other grounds Excepting the sume of one hundred poundes
and twentie pounds which he is to pay onto mine Executrix hereafter mentioned
within one Twelve month after my decease And I give unto him the bedstead,
beding and other furniture belonging in the new roome with one paire of hempen
sheetes the table and forme in the hall with all the benches and standards
in and about the house together with my Mustmill But yet see as if his sister
Joane Higgs shall outlive him Then my willis that the said Standards
and Mustmill sall be and remaine unto her Also I give unto my Sonne John
Flowck and my sonne in lawe John Francombe Five poundes apeece
to be paid them imediately after my decease Alsoe I give unto my sonne
John Flowcks wife Twentie shillings Alsoe I give unto the children of
my brother Edward Flowck Tenn shillings a peece And to my brother
Edward himself Tenn shillings All the rest of my goods Cattells and Chattels
in this my last will and Testament not given and bequeathed I will devise
and bequeath unto my wife Margery Flowcke whom I make constitute and
appoint sole Executrix of this my las twill and Testament And my will is
further that she shall notlopp or cropp by virtue of deade yeare any Trees
more than for his necessarie fire fewell and mounding And I hereby revoke
all former wills by me made Memorand that the words when he shall accomplish
the age of seaventeene yeares were interlined before the ensealeing hereof
Now in witnes that this is my last will and testament I have hereunto put
mine hand and sale the day and yeare first above written John Flowck In
