Memorandum: that uppon or aboute the twentieth
day of August Anno Domini 1617 John Hatton late of Forthampton in the
Countie of Gloucester yeoman being visited with sicknes but yet beinge of
perfect mynd and memorie and havinge an intente to dispose of his worldlie
estate which it had pleased god to blesse him withall did by worde of mouth
utter and declare theise words followinge or the like in effect to say First
he did bequeath his soule unto Allmightie god and hid bodie to Christian buriall
Item he did give and bequeath unto Mr Fox preacher
of Forthampton one bushell of wheate Item he did give and bequeath unto John
Southe his best suite of apparrell And he did make appointe and ordaine
Henry Hatton his brother his sole and onelie Executor All which
wordes or the like in effecte were spoken and declared by the said John
Hatton (animo mea parte testandi) he beinge then of perfect memorie in
the presence and hearing of diverse and sondrie credible wittnesses vizt.
