The Will of Thomas Hatton

 

In ye name of God amen ye 27th of January 1675 I Tho: Hatton of St Maryes County being sicke and weake in body but of sound and pfect memory praised be God therefore & knowing the uncertainty of this Life and being Desirous to settle things in order doe make this my Last Will & testament in manner & forme following (viz) Imprs I commend my Soule to God my Creator Expecting the free & full pardon of my Sinns and the salvation of my pretious and imortall Soule onely and alone through & by the merits of Jesus Xt the onely Redeemer of mankind. and my body to the Earth from whence it was taken to Recieve suche decent buriall as to my surviving friends shall seeme convenient. It I give unto Barbary Hanson my sister in Law one gold Ringe that was formerly my first wifes Ring. It I give unto my father in Law Mr Rando Hanson my white Gelding - It I doe give unto Jno Cheverills sonne named Robt one mare foald and one cow calfe. It I doe give unto my two sisters in Law Barbary and Eliz: Hanson one young bay mare (about two years olde the next aprill) and her increase forever. It I doe give unto my brother in law Tho Wahop and his two sisters Margaret & Rebeckah Wahop. one mare that is Running at or about piny poynt and her increase forever. It I doe give unto Margaret Forrest daughter to Pat Forrest one heifer that is is something mis mrkd of one of her Ears pr the wolves & one cow calfe. It all my whole prsonall Estate (my Debts & Legacies being well contented satisfyed & pd) good & Chattles moveables & imoveables wtsoever I give and bequeath unto my Loveing wife Elizabeth and my only sonne Thomas equally to be divided that each may know their prportion. then I doe desire my Lo: friends Wm Hatton Mr Rando Hanson & Tho Dent jointly or severally may be possessed wth what is my Childs prportion and secure it for him agnst he comes to age. and I doe hereby Request and appoynt my said friends before nominated to be averseers to see to the prformance of this my will and intents herein mentioned – In testimony hereof to all the foremontioned prmises. I have hereunto set my hand and seale the day and yeare above written, and in case of my wifes or Childs mortallity I give the whole to the longest Survivor and if the Lord should in his wisdom take them all out of this life I then will and bequeath my said Estate and all my Lands tenements and estate Reall by wt denomination soever it becomes mine unto the Children of Mr Rando Hanson and his wifes viz Ja: Johnson. Rich Hanson Tho: Hanson Timo: Hanson Barbaray Hanson & Eliz: Hanson severally to be distributed as my overseers shall think fitt the surviving prties of the said Children still to Enjoy my said Estate as before sd
