• Land grant: 50 acres, 1818, Kelso, Roxburgh County, New South Wales. 4

• He was employed in 1823 in Orange, Wellington County, New South Wales. Chief Constable

• He owned slab hut in 1837 in Mudgee, Wellington County, New South Wales. 5 John built a slab hut, the first building in what was to be surveyed as the township of Mudgee. This hut was his dwelling and a general store.

• He was involved in a court case from 16 Oct 1837 to 17 Oct 1837 in Supreme Court of New South Wales, Cumberland County, Sydney, New South Wales. 6 Donnison v. Faunce [www.law.mq.edu.au]

I have presumed that this is John as the others J Blackmans were counstables and hence should not have been eligable.

• He owned land granted by the NSW Government on 30 Jun 1840 in Richmond, Cumberland County, New South Wales. 7

• He owned Rosedale Farm from 1850 to 1858 in Bowenfels, Cook County, New South Wales. 2 Establised this property.

• He owned The Australia Arms Inn from 1850 to 1858 in Bowenfels, Cook County, New South Wales. 2 Now known as "Fernhill".

• He owned Nugal Station on Castlereagh Road From 1850 in Coonamble, Leichhardt County, New South Wales. 2

John married Elizabeth Morris, daughter of James Morris and Sarah Mitchell, on 1 Nov 1824 in Castlereagh, Cumberland County, New South Wales.1 (Elizabeth Morris was born on 11 Apr 1808 in Nepean River, Cumberland County, New South Wales and died on 13 Dec 1901 in Coonamble, Leichhardt County, New South Wales, Australia 3 8.) The cause of her death was Senile decay.
