Cremationa 10 Oct 1977 Breakspear Crematorium, Ruislip, Middlesex15
Note The 1911 census records Archibald as a "patient" at Rugby school. On the same page are several "patients" and "nurses" which suggests that he may have been in the school's infirmary at the time
Note Archibald was engaged to Audrey Violet Merrick, elder daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel and Mrs William Merrick of 22 Sheen Gate Gardens, East Sheen, London c 7 Oct 1920 according to an announcement in Flight Magazine of that date, page 1066
Note Capt. Archibald Buchanan Yuille, 112 and 151 Squadrons RFC and East Lancashire Regiment was awarded the DFC on 2 November 1918. The citation reads:

"One night during the recent operations when on patrol this officer observed an enemy aeroplane in the beams of a searchlight. Three of our 'Camels' were engaging this machine, but not at sufficient range for decisive results. With great gallantry, he dived between the nearest 'Camel' and the enemy, thereby exposing himself to the fire of our tracers, and by skilful manoeuvre succeeded in getting under the tail of the enemy machine where he opened fire at twenty-five yards. After three bursts the enemy machine caught fire and crashed."

This action occurred 23 July 1918, over Flanders; the enemy aircraft was the first Gotha 151 Squadron accounted for since they arrived in France on 21 June 1918.

Death22 Oct 1958 In aircraft Reg.No. G-ANHC, Over Nettuno, Naples, italy1,3
Note An unidentified newspaper cutting pasted into the Yuille Family Book records her death:
Yuille - The funeral service for Eveline Margaret Yuille, aged 23, eldest daughter of the late Mr George Yuille and the late Mrs Stanton Jerdein, much loved sister of Jane and Sally, tragically killed in an air crash over Naples on Oct. 22, will be held at High Hurstwood Church, near Crowborough, Sussex at 3 p.m. on Friday oct. 31. Followed by interment at Crowborough Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to 81, Westbourne Grove, W.2. or to the church.
Note British European Airways Flight 142 was a scheduled service between London Heathrow Airport and Naples Airport carrying 26 passengers and 5 crew. On 22 October 1958 it was operated by Vickers Viscount 701 registered G-ANHC when it collided with an Italian Air Force North American F-86E Sabre over Anzio in Italy. Flight 142 was flying at 23,500 feet. The F-86E was the leading aircraft of four that were on a tactical training exercise when it hit the Viscount. Both aircraft crashed with the loss of all on board the Viscount; the F-86 pilot ejected and survived. While no blame was attributed for the accident it was noted that the Viscount had strayed out of the airway and into the military prohibited area.
