My Great Aunt Francis Carrico Suetholz
had a copy of this wall size chart. About 10 years or so (give or take
a few), my mother borrowed the chart & then I from her. Before we
returned the chart, I attempted to "copy" what Maud had drawn on the
chart. It was in tree format with the lines flowing down from Peter
& his children. There was no means to photo copy the chart, because
of it's size. What I attempted was to set the information up in a text
file, I included a generation number & a parent name so that I
could later follow the information as Maud had put it in the chart.
You will notice that there are errors. There are even some differences
in the way Maud has the family
protrayed compared to Homer Edwin Carrico's
The Carrico Family published 1951
in the
Filson Club Quarterly, Vol.
XXV. Homer, in Footnote #4 states:
"Maude Carrico
Russell, a descendant of Thomas Ignatius Carrico, now nearly blind,
living in Twenty Nine Palms, California, did a great amount of research
into the genealogy of the Carrico family. She placed the product of her
research on a large chart. It is regretted that she did not give
references information but merely placed a bibliography on this chart.
She very kindly
sent her notebooks to the author and it was found that she had been
content with merely names and parentage. Therefore this chart is merely
served as a guide as to possible sources of genealogical data.
Much of the material, unless otherwise identified by appropriate
explanations, was copied from Miss Russell's chart. This is especially
true of data concerning descendants of Abel Carrico, Levi Carrico son
of
Thomas Ignatius, and Vincent Carrico."
Maud has the immigrant Peter as being the
same Peter who wrote his will in 1764, Homer indicates that the will
was written by the son of the immigrant Peter. Maud has Abel Carrico
who married Ann Kent as son of the immigrant Peter, totally bypassing
Abel & Elizabeth Simms, whereas Homer acknowledged Abel Carrico
married to Elizabeth, but has Rev. William Carrico has son of Abel
& Elizabeth rather than Able & Ann.
An additional error, as it concerns my own ancestor, Alexander Carrico
who married Mary Sedgwick 1800 in Montgomery Co.,
MD.
Maude has Alexander as son of James Carrico of Peter, who did have a
son Alexander, but by the accounts of the Charles Co., MD
Orphans Court in 1812 was still
a minor. Additionaly, Maude indicates that Alexander was born in "1749
or 1750", "removed to Beverly Mass." where he served in the Revolution,
married twice, 1st to Elizabeth Foster, 2nd to Mary Sedgwick & died
in Mass. in 1821. Maude clearly had 3 different Alexander Carrico's
confused as being the same man, despite there being at least a 40 year
difference in birth of the oldest Alexander & the youngest
Alexander.
Homer Edwin Carrico must've realized
this, & perhaps not knowing where Alexander who married Mary
Sedgwick fit it, included him as
a son of Peter Carrico of Preston WV. To this day, we still don't know
just where our Alexander who married Mary Sedgwick fits in with Peter
Carrico's descendants.
There are other errors. Please, use this information cautiously. Take
what is
given here as clues, not as fact, please try to verify the information.
