Robin Elaine Bland-Becker, age 40, of Chriesman, Texas, lost a valiant, four-year-long struggle with breast cancer on Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at College Station Medical Center in College Station, Texas.
Robin resided at Surfside from birth until age 19 and graduated from Brazosport High School in 1979. She attended Brazosport Junior College in 1993, then Rose State College in Oklahoma City where she obtained her Associates Degree in respiratory therapy in 1997.
She married Mark Eugene Becker on January 10, 1981. They have two children, Sharon, age 19; and Mark II, age 15. During their 21-year marriage, Mark was in the U.S. Air Force, and they lived in Wichita, Kan.; Oklahoma City; and last in Sacramento, California. They returned to Texas after retirement in June 2001. Robin was employed at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham, Texas, as a respiratory therapist.
In addition to her husband and children, Robin is survived by her sisters and spouses, Nancy and Richard Crone of Brenham and Sally and Les Roberts of Angleton; parents-in-law, Bev and Doug Becker of Chries-man; two nephews; two nieces; one great-nephew; three great-nieces; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; three brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.
She is preceded in death by her parents, R. V. "Jigger" and Jeanette Bland.
Memorial services for Robin were Friday, May 17, 2002, at the Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale, Texas. Private family interment at the gravesite of her parents in IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale, Texas, will be at a later date.
