Their Story

Ira Mae, the third child of John" and "Nicie", from a young child on showed her Cherokee ancestry more than the other children. While her oldest brother "Sam displayed his Celtic ancestors, 6'5" tall, red haired and light complexion, and next born "Jeff" was brown headed and tanned, Mae was short and dark skinned. When her future husband Walter went home and told his parents he was going to ask Mae to marry him, they were upset that he was going to marry "that Indian", he did it anyway.
