Aunt Gladys and Uncle Lloyd were my "closest relatives" when I was young. By that I mean they lived near us up untill about the third grade, then they moved to Gridley about ten miles away, a long distance in those days. Never the less, they still remained my "closest relatives. It was like having a second family with brothers and sisters. Their son Olen was just about my age, son Fred was a little younger, daughter Faye and son Darrell were a few years older. Even their oldest son Al was younger than my two sisters. As both my sister's were somewhat older than I and I had no brother, Olen became the brother I never had. This story took place in 1996 when Aunt Gladys was about 88 years old and I wanted to get more information on her family.
