Etta May Cassingham was born 10 Jun 1864 in Illinois. May, as she is known, is the daughter of Marshall Iona Cassingham and Ellen Cullen.

On 5 Mar 1885, she married James Herndon Flora in Roberts, Ford, Illinois. He is the son of John Wiggins Flora and Jane Isabel Herndon. He was born 26 Jan 1857 in Carthage, Campbell, Kentucky. He died 29 Oct 1945 at age 88.
