On 21 Feb 1861, at age 23, Alexander married Frances A. Wheeler, also age 23, in Carthage, Hancock, Illinois. She was born 25 Jan 1838 in Zanesville, Muskingum, Ohio. Frances is the daughter of Wesley D. Wheeler and Mary A. (unknown). She died 6 Feb 1909 at the age of 71 at home of her daughter, Mrs. Geo. Roll, in La Harpe, Hancock, Illinois. On 8 February 1909, she was buried at La Harpe Cemetery, La Harpe, Hancock, Illinois.
