Notes

Shortly after Charles' death, his daughter, Caroline, sued the widow, Almeda, challenging her father's will -- wanting a larger share of the inheritance for herself. She lost that case. Three years later, she sued the widow of her uncle, George W. Cassingham, challenging the earlier will of her grand-father, John W. Cassingham -- asserting that the substantial estate should have been split into three equal parts, between her father, her uncle and herself. That lawsuit was settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.
