Frances Erma Knox is the daughter of Clara V. Linton and Walter Knox. She was born 11 February 1908 in Lancaster, Grant, Wisconsin. She died in November 1979 at age 71 in Bronxville, Westchester, New York.

In 1932, at age 23, she married Clarence Lewis Barnhart, who was age 31, in Cook county, Illinois. He was born 30 December 1900 near Plattsburg, Clinton, Missouri. He died 24 October 1993 at age 92 in Peekskill, Westchester, New York.
