Notes

A local Oklahoma newspaper reported Mary's wedding as follows: "Ward-Haskins. On New Year's night at the home of J. L. Dodd occurred the marriage of Miss Mary A. Ward, of Keytesville, Mo., and J. P. Haskins of this city. Rev R. C. Taylor performed the ceremony in the presence of a few friends at about 7:30 o'clock. Mr. Haskins came here recently and has been employed in the Bank barber shop. He has made a number of friends since arriving although his acquaintance has been rather a short one. Miss Ward came in on the Friday afternoon train from her home in Missouri. We welcome this new couple to our town and extend to them our congratulations and best wishes for a happy and prosperous wedded life."

Jane and John Haskin are twins of record proportion! In fact, their birth is recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records under the heading: Heaviest Twins. In 1998, in an article for the Chariton County Historical Society, Jane talked about her birth.
