On 13 July 1950, he married Barbara Jean Cowhick. She is the daughter of Willis Cowhick and Esther Snyder. She was born 21 August 1934 in St Marys, Auglaize, Ohio. She died 22 December 2009 at age 75 in St Marys, Auglaize, Ohio. On 26 December 2009, she was buried at Elm Grove Cemetery, Saint Marys, Auglaize, Ohio.
