Pattsy Powelson

Pattsy C. Powelson, 69, of LaHarpe, Ill., died at 7 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004, at the Alternatives Home in LaHarpe.

Born June 16, 1935, near Burnside, Ill., she was the daughter of Cecil R. and Ruby Hickman Burford Sr. On July 31, 1952, she married Gale W. Powelson near LaHarpe. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2004.

Mrs. Powelson worked for Poulter's Flower shop in LaHarpe for several years. She and her sister then bought and operated My Sisters Place for 27 years.

She was a member of LaHarpe United Methodist Church, LaHarpe Golden Rule Club and served on the board of the LaHarpe Carnegie Public Library.

Survivors include two daughters, Nan Chapman and Gayle Vincent, both of LaHarpe; one son, Brad Powelson of Princeton, Ill.; four grandchildren; one sister, Deloris Woodside of LaHarpe; and two brothers, Cecil Burford Jr. of Fountain Green, Ill., and Dan Burford of Niota, Ill.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister and a stepsister.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Powelson will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at LaHarpe United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Diane Bigley officiating. Burial will be in LaHarpe Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for LaHarpe United Methodist Church and the American Cancer Society.

PATTSY C. POWELSON

June 16, 1935 -- July 24, 2004

Pattsy C. Powelson, 69, LaHarpe, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at the Alternatives Home in LaHarpe.

She was born June 16, 1935, near Burnside, a daughter of Cecil R. and Ruby Hickman Burford Sr. On July 31, 1952, she married Gale W. Powelson near LaHarpe. He died April 4, 2004.

She is survived by two daughters, Nan Chapman and Gayle Vincent, both of LaHarpe; one son, Brad Powelson of Princeton; four grandchildren, Heather Vincent, Ben Fark, Kris Vincent and Alexandra Powelson; one great-grandson, Hunter Vincent; one sister Deloris Woodside of LaHarpe; two brothers, Cecil Burford, Jr. of Fountain Green and Dan Burford of Niota.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 27, at the LaHarpe United Methodist Church. Rev. Diane Bigley officiated. Burial followed in the LaHarpe Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe United Methodist Church and the American Cancer Society.
