Jacque C. Cassingham

ELGIN — Jacque C. Cassingham of Elgin, formerly of Wilmington and Joliet, died Tuesday at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. He was 79.

Mr. Cassingham was born in Wilmington on July 22, 1926, the son of Louis B. and Josephine (Jacque) Cassingham. He grew up in Wilmington, then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After graduating from Drake University College of Pharmacy, he married Lucille France Muffler in Coal City on April 26, 1952.

For almost 50 years, the Cassinghams lived in Joliet where they raised six children and were active members of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He worked as a pharmacist and retired in 1991. In 2001, he and Lucille moved to Elgin and joined St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, sewing, crocheting, quilting and model railroading.

He is survived by his wife; their six children, Paul (Cheryl Whitesel), John, Joel (Sheila Arimond), Curt, Lisa (Stephen Treadwell) and Rene (Jason Barry); and nine grandchildren. He also is survived by his sister, Faye Cassingham of Batavia; one niece; and two nephews.

Jacque Cassingham was preceded in death by his parents; and his infant sister, Gwen.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, and at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 408 Cedar St., St. Charles, from 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, until the service.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Geoffrey Wirth officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Cemetery in St. Charles.
