Gale Powelson

Gale W. Powelson, 72, of LaHarpe, Ill., died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, April, 4, 2004, at the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, Ill.

Born Aug. 21, 1931, in Lomax, Ill., he was the son of Ray W. and Anna May Williams Powelson. On July 31, 1952, he married Pattsy Burford near LaHarpe.

Mr. Powelson was a retired farmer and truck driver who farmed part–time after retiring. He attended LaHarpe United Methodist Church. He enjoyed horses and reading, especially westerns.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Nan Chapman and Gayle Vincent, both of LaHarpe; one son, Brad Powelson of Princeton, Ill.; four grandchildren; one great–grandson, and one brother, Donald Powelson of LaHarpe.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Powelson will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at LaHarpe United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steven Blair officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the LaHarpe Carnegie Public Library.

Aug. 21, 1931 -- April 4, 2004

Gale W. Powelson, 72, of LaHarpe, died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born Aug. 21, 1931, in Lomax, the son of Ray W. and Anna May Williams Powelson. On July 31, 1952, he married Pattsy Burford near LaHarpe.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Nan Chapman and Gayle Vincent, both of LaHarpe; one son, Brad Powelson of Princeton; four grandchildren, Heather Vincent, Ben Fark, Kris Vincent and Alexandra Powelson; one great-grandson, Hunter Vincent; and one brother, Donald Powelson of LaHarpe.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at the LaHarpe United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Blair officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe Carnegie Public Library.
