(From an April 6, 2004 newspaper) LITTLE RIVER - Harold C. Cassingham, 87, died April 3, 2004, at Hutchinson Hospital, Hutchinson. He was born Nov. 5, 1916, at Little River, the son of Clarence and Maggie Selina Atherton Cassingham. He graduated from Little River High School in 1934. A lifetime Little River resident, he worked for Cessna, Hutchinson, from 1966 to 1978. He operated a Mobil and Standard service station in Little River for several years, as well as other businesses. He served as mayor of Little River for three terms and was city clerk for 15 years. He belonged to United Methodist Church, Little River. On Nov. 25, 1939, he married Phyllis Campbell at Little River. She survives at the home. Other survivors include: a son, Galen, Enid, Okla.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, George; and two sisters, Lepha Hauschild and Ruby Johnson. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Little River, with the Revs. Adelia Hooley and Grant Davis presiding. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sillin Funeral Home, Lyons. Burial will be in Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River. Memorials may be sent to the Harold C. Cassingham Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home. |
